Integrated Thai & Western Massage

What is Thai Massage?

Thai Massage is new to modern spas, but it is actually an ancient healing modality. It was developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand 2,500 years ago.

Thai massage uses passive stretching and gentle pressure along the body’s energy lines to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension and balance the body’s energy systems. Thai massage is both deeply relaxing and energizing.

Thai massage takes place on a mat on the floor or on a massage table. you should wear loose fitting clothing. We ask you to wear something comfortable, like gym shorts or yoga pants and a t-shirt, during your Thai massage.

Thai yoga massage is called Lazy Man's Yoga because the therapist will push your body into various positions without any work on your part.

Thai massage is done with all your clothes on, so some people recommend it if you feel uncomfortable with nudity during a Swedish or Western Massage. But it is not always the best choice for first-time spa-goers. The therapist literally uses his or her whole body to move your body into various positions during Thai massage and is on the table occasionally during the massage.

Thai massage has its roots in a spiritual tradition, and its purpose is to heal a person physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Why Thai Massage?

Thai Yoga Massage helps to: lengthen muscles through progressive, assisted stretching, increase the joint’s range of motion, bolsters immune system health and function, improves circulation, balances flow of energy in the body, relaxes muscle tension, balances the nervous system and improves nervous system disorders, promotes proper functioning of the sinuses, skin, respiratory system, heart, and digestion.

How is Thai Massage Delivered?

Thai Yoga Massage is delivered on a full size mat on the floor or on a massage table. your massage therapist may be on the table (standing or kneeling) with you at certain points while the receiver is fully clothed during the whole massage.

Our sessions include the use of herbal treatments via Thai Herbal Compresses. These medicinal herbal packs include 10 different herbs and flowers, which are grown and dried in Thailand. They are wrapped in fabric, steamed, and then pressed along the receiver’s body throughout the massage. The receiver leaves feeling refreshed and rejuvenated from the warmed herbal remedies.

Western Massage

Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology, as opposed to energy work on "meridiens" or sen lines in Asian massage systems. While receiving your massage, you will be undressed, or in whatever you are comfortable in. Typically, 90-minutes gives the therapist more time to work the muscle tissue and achieve results.

What Happens During A Swedish Massage

In all Swedish massage, the therapist lubricates the skin with an organic massage oil or cream and performs various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, among other health benefits.
